Emma Power Shines at Feis Ceoil: A Star Voice and Proud Member of Dublin School of Music Faculty

In a series of resounding triumphs across Ireland’s most prestigious classical music competition, Feis Ceoil, mezzo-soprano Emma Power has firmly established herself as one of the brightest stars of her generation.

Emma, a distinguished vocal coach and performer, is also a valued member of the teaching faculty at Dublin School of Music, where her students regularly benefit from her deep musical insight, passionate artistry, and nurturing educational approach. Her recent accolades are a powerful testament not only to her own commitment to excellence but to the high standard of teaching the school champions across all its programmes.

Originally from Waterford, Emma Power completed her Bachelor of Music at MTU Cork and recently graduated with a Master’s in Vocal Performance from the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where she studied under the guidance of Dr Imelda Drumm and Dr Dearbhla Collins. Her career has included performances with esteemed groups such as the National Symphony Orchestra, Lassus, RIAM Opera, Cork Operatic Society, and Cór Cois Abháin.

At the 2024 Feis Ceoil, Emma achieved an extraordinary clean sweep in several senior vocal categories, taking home:

  • The Lieder Prize (with the Mahler Award)
  • The Mrs P.J. Geoghegan Memorial Cup
  • The Mezzo‑Soprano Solo Prize
  • The John McCormack & Margaret Burke‑Sheridan Cups

These victories alone would mark a career highlight for many artists. Yet Emma’s momentum continued into the 2025 competition, where she added:

  • The Gervase Elwes Memorial Cup
  • The Dermot Troy Trophy

Her artistry has not gone unnoticed: she has been invited to perform at the Feis Ceoil Gala Concert at the National Concert Hall in June 2025 – a coveted showcase of the finest voices and instrumentalists in the country.

The team at Dublin School of Music is incredibly proud to have Emma among its teaching staff. Her accomplishments on the national stage are an inspiration to students and fellow educators alike. As a performer, Emma brings warmth, technical brilliance, and emotional depth to every note. As a teacher, she brings those same qualities into each lesson – helping to shape the next generation of Irish musical talent.

We look forward to seeing what Emma achieves next and are honoured to support her journey as both a world-class artist and exceptional educator.
