Leaving Certificate Preparatory Course

This music preparatory course is designed for students who haven’t previously studied music at Junior Certificate level. The course aims to equip students with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to succeed in the Leaving Certificate Music curriculum.

Course Structure:

Duration: This is a three-day intensive course. There will be two sessions offered:

• • 10th-12th of July
  • 7th-9th of August
  • Sessions will run from 10am-12pm daily

Content: The course will cover key areas of the Junior Certificate Music curriculum, that are stepping stones towards success in the Leaving Certificate course:

• • Musical Elements: Notation, rhythm, melody, harmony, texture, timbre, and form
  • Aural Skills: Development of aural perception through exercises in dictation and music analysis
  • Composition: Introduction to basic compositional techniques
  • Western Music History: Understanding key periods and composers
  • Irish Traditional Music: Introduction to the unique features of Irish music

Delivery: Interactive sessions that blend theoretical knowledge with practical exercises.
