This Leaving Cert Music Technology Crash Course is designed to equip Higher Level music students with the essential knowledge and skills to confidently approach the 25% Music Technology elective in their exams.
Duration: This is a three-day intensive course. There will be two sessions offered:
10th-12th of July
7th-9th of August
Sessions will run from 1pm-2.30 pm daily.
Course Objectives:
Understand the role and function of Music Technology in contemporary music creation.
Gain practical experience with music software for score input, editing, and playback.
Develop the ability to describe, plan, and execute edits into a four-part musical score.
Become familiar with the Leaving Cert Music Technology exam format and marking scheme.
Develop strategies for effectively completing the Music Technology core activity within the allocated exam time.
Course Content:
Introduction to music notation software (Musescore).
Score input: Entering notes, rests, clefs, time signatures, articulation, dynamics, etc.
Editing techniques: transposition, tempo adjustment, etc.
Exam Techniques: Analyzing the question, using clear terminology, time management strategies.
Practical exercises for applying the learned skills to sample scores.
