The Dublin School of Music is the perfect place for young kids to explore and develop their love for music. The teachers are not only highly skilled but also multi-instrumentalists, which has been an incredible advantage for my 5-year-old.

Music Lesson FAQ's

Our most frequently asked questions. Answered.

We welcome students from age 4 to adult. Our junior programmes introduce music fundamentals in a fun, structured way, while our adult tracks cater for complete beginners, hobby musicians and advanced learners returning after a break.

No. We can lend a piano, drum kit or orchestral instrument during your lesson. However we strongly advise people to get their own instruments, practice makes perfect! For home practice we’ll advise on affordable rental or purchase options—and our teachers will guide you on sizing (e.g., violin, guitar).

Tuition starts at €30 for a 30 minute one‑to‑one lesson. We also offer 45 and 60minute slots, term bundles, and discounted sibling packages. Lessons run Monday - Saturday across Tallaght(also Sunday), Stillorgan and Terenure; evening and weekend times book fastest, so early enrolment is recommended.

Absolutely. Many of our tutors are active examiners and design personalised study plans covering sight‑reading, aural tests and performance pieces. Our students consistently achieve Merit, Honours and Distinction results across all major boards.

Yes - we offer a 3 class taster for €99. After that, enrolment is by term, but you can switch instrument, teacher or lesson length at any renewal point.

Most beginners can play a simple tune within the first four to six weeks, provided they practise 10‑15 minutes a day. Your teacher will set clear weekly goals so you can track milestones and stay motivated.

Yes. While most students begin with individual lessons, we run small group classes (3–6 students) for beginners and ensemble sessions for bands, string quartets, and vocal groups. Group formats are ideal for ear‑training and stage confidence.

We provide live, interactive online lessons via Zoom for students who travel often or live outside Dublin. Hybrid plans - mixing on‑site and online sessions - are also available on request.

Our faculty covers classical, jazz, pop, rock, musical‑theatre, and contemporary songwriting. Tell us your goals - whether that’s Chopin nocturnes, jazz improvisation, or chart‑ready pop - and we’ll match you with a specialist teacher.

Absolutely. Each term ends with optional student recitals in our on‑site performance hall. We also organise outreach concerts and local festival entries, giving students of all ages real‑stage experience in a supportive environment.
